
In the first round of election,Jharkhand’s 13 Assembly constituencies recorded over 62 percent poll.
During the polling,the security forces recovered two can bombs in Monadih village in Latehar.Three can bombs were recovered from Hariharganj in Palamau.Due to the recovery of these bombs, the voting process began almost two hour late.
At the booth number 191 and 192 at Harharganj in Palamau,the Electronic Voting Machine were broken.As such,the Chief Election Commissioner PK Jajoria cancelled the polling.The repoll will be held after the Election Commission decides the new date soon.
Reports reaching Ranchi said that the candidate of Navjawan Sangharsh Morcha Bhai Govind Singh received injury due to firing on him. “The firing on his vehicle escaped from his league”, said a report.
From inside Vishrampur Assembly constituency in Palamau,behind the house of the Congress candidate and Minister KN Tripathi, some yet to be identified men drove away the JMM and BJP agents. Though this created tension there, there was no impact on the poll.
During the poll,Jharkhand Vikas Morcha’s leader Mahendra Sao’s son was arrested on the charge that he was distributing money among the people. The police which had recovered some cash from his possession,was busy questioning him.
The polling was reported to be near 62%.
Bhavnathpur-69.60%; Lohardaga-63%; Gumla-58%; Bishunpur 59%; Garhwa 64.28%; Latehar 60%; Manika 58%; Chattarpur 60%; Palamau 65.27%; Panki 63%; Hussainabad 67.30%; Chatra 53.85%; and Bishrampur 62%.
