Godda District, a part of the Santhal Parganas was created from portions of Bhagalpur and Birbhum. Spread over 2,110 sq. km, Godda District in northeast Jharkhand lies at 24.83 N latitude and 87.22 E longitude.
Godda District has recorded a population of 8,61,000. With a predominantly agrarian economy the district grows paddy, wheat and maize.
