Wild elephants destroy several houses in Chatra villages

elephantsA herd of elephants has destroyed several houses in Karamtand and Babhne villages in Chatra district.

Around 18 wild elephants strayed into the villages and destroyed many houses. The villagers are now demanding compensation for their crop destroyed by the elephants.

The herd is now about one kilometer away from the village and the villagers are fearing another attack.

“The Forest Department will review the destruction done by the elephants and the affected families would be provided compensation,” forest officer Chhotelal Shah has said.
