Uranium deposits found near Jadugora in Jharkhand

Uranium Corporation of India Limited (UCIL) today said that deposits of uranium were discovered at a place in Jharkhand’s East Singhbhum district. The mineral deposits were found near the mines in operation.

Notably, UCIL has the country’s oldest uranium mine in Jadugora,23 km from Jamshedpur,set up in 1967. Apart from Jadugora,UCIL has six operational uranium mines in Bhatin, Turamdih, Bagjata, Narwapahar,Banduhurang and Mahuldih in Jharkhand.

The traces of uranium were found near Jadugora,it is learnt.

A PTI report quoted Pinaki Roy, Executive Director (Project East) and Corporate Communication,saying this.“We have recently detected rich deposits of uranium between our existing uranium mines at Jadugora and Narwapahar(about 15 km from Jamshedpur).”
