The security personnel recovered a 50 kg IED from naxat-hit area of West Singhbhum, hidden along a key road in Hatnadeh village of Jharkhand.
The road was to be used by police officers who were to attend a Janata Darbar to be held in Bandgaon.
The recovery of the explosive was made by CRPF men along with the state police which were deployed to sanitise the Naxal affected area.
The IED had it been triggered could have caused fatal injuries to those trapped. It was defused after being recovered and the Janata Darbar was cancelled due to security reasons.
