
Senior offiicers today visited rural areas falling in Jharkhand’s Maoist infested West Singhbhum district.
These officers included Union Rural Development Secretary JK Mahapatra,Jharkhand Principal Secretary,Rural Development, NN Sinha,its Principal Secretary,Rural Work Department,MR Meena and Commandent(Special Task Force)Saket Kumar..
To begin with, they visited Panchpahiya Panchayat under Manoharpur block of West Singhbhum and held a meeting with members of the Self Help Group set by an NGO-Jharkhand Aajivika Pramotion Society and noted their experiences.
This NGO is said to have set up nine Self Help Groups and had 10 members working there.Its members said that each Self Help Group was involved in managing goat and poultry farm in which many people were employed.They also said that some jobs were created by fsrmers who had used modern technology to increase agriculture production.
Mahapatra appeared happy and expressed satisfaction over their work.Then,these officers visited Barkanda Panchayat where wells were being built under MNREGA schemes.”More and more well under MNREGA should be built”,said Mahapatra who inspected Barkanda-Fulwari road under PMGSY and appreciated it.
Due to the cloudy weather and rain,Mahapatra could not visit other sites.Instead of using Chopper,he returned to Chaibasa with other officials including Meena and Sinha by train.
