Mangla Prasad Mishra is a school teacher with a mission-teach students innovative methods to score in examinations.Like most missions,his isn’t an easy one,since he is the only known teacher in schools across Jharkhand,whose students have rarely failed in examinations.
“If students are tought carefully,lovingly and innovatively,they are bound to excel”,says Mishra.
Mishra means what he says.At Plus II section of the Marwari school,Ranchi,where he has been teaching science-physics,chemistry and maths-since 1985,his students have secured almost 100 percent results in Board examinations,year after year.
While his achievements were widely acknowledged,State of Jharkhand had awarded him in 2009.
Mishra has a multi layered persona.An author of 36 school books and 300 articles on issues connected with science,environment,development,food,nutrition,health,plants,insects and so on,he is an active blogger,a columnist of the local Hindi daily Dainik Jagran,president of Jharkhand chapter of the Maneka Gandhi run NGO-People for Animal-who has been tirelessly working for protection of birds and growth of sparrows’population since 1991.
If his resume is of any indication,he has been co-ordinator of science activities in schools in Jharkhand for over ten years.Above all,he is humane in outlook and conduct.He is credited to have attended many a sick students,their parents in hospitals and even helped them monetarily by straining his own family’s monthly budget.
