Amid criticisms,Jharkhand Chief Minister Arjun Munda has taken to e-governance as he has faith in it to bring about transparency and accountability which would help in curbing the corruption within his state.
Speaking to Jharkhandstatenews.com,the tech savvy CM says “This helps me a great deal in gathering tonnes of information.More often than not,it also helps me build my own world view”.Armed with a Samsung Tablet,he sits in his office and googles for an answer whenever he is plagued by a question connected with the people of the state.
But his critics, both from within his BJP and the Opposition, are bitterly critical of his obsession for e-governance.”Instead of computer,he should ensure 24X7 electricity, build smooth and durable roads and get schools and public health centres manned by competent doctors and teachers,”says a school teacher.
However, unlike the Janata Darbar held by few other CM’s in the country to address public grievances,Munda has stressed on usage of Information Technology to deal with them effectively. His website aapkacm.com has registered more than 1500 grievances within a month of its launching.
This website offers a comprehensive mechanism for the effective redressal of grievances received from members of the public.Incoming grievances and complaints were directed against the different departments under the jurisdiction of the state government, its local bodies, undertakings and organizations, owned or substantially financed by it.
These initiatives by Munda have also given him acknowledgement at the global level. He has been invited by Seol’s Mayor Park Won-Soon and his counterpart in Barcelona Xavier Trias to speak at the second Assembly of the World-e Government Organisation of Cities Governments and Local Governments to be held in Seol,South Korea,on November 12-18.
