Staying for 127 days in orbit of the space,Sunita Wiliams along with two other astronauts returned to earth at 5.53 am today. They were JAXA’s Akihiko Hoshide and Russian Cosmonaut Yuri Malenchenko.
“Helicopters rushed with the search-and-recovery crew to assist them, as their capsule parachuted down some 35 kilometres from the planned touchdown site due to a procedural delay”,said the reports.
All three flew from the space to the earth by the spacecraft called Soyuz TMA-05M. This marked the end of her three-and-a-half hour voyage from the space to the earth.
To ensure safe landing three planes, 12 helicopters and six rescue vehicles were deployed around the landing venue at Arkalyk.
With this,47 year old NASA astronaut Williams, who has spent a total of 322 days in space during her two long duration missions-last time she was abroad the International Space Station as an Expedition 14/15 Flight Engineer from December 9,2006 to June 22,2007-holds now a record for space walking time for female astronauts.
