Visually impaired people under the banner of the National Federation of the Blind today protested in Delhi against “apathy” towards job reservations meant for them and asked the government to fill the backlog vacancies through a special recruitment drive.

They cited a Supreme Court order to support their point and demanded further reservations in case of promotions.

The Supreme Court in 2013 had directed the Union and State governments to provide three per cent job reservation to the disabled including one per cent for persons suffering from blindness and low vision.
