Shahrukh Khan’s Night Riders Sports Ltd to pay Rs 51.68 lakh tax to Jharkhand Government

Under pressure of the state Commercial Tax Department,Night Riders Sports Ltd(NRSL) has agreed to pay tax of Rs 51.68 lakh to it.

NRSL,a company of the Bollywood star Shahrukh Khan had organized two IPL matches at Jharkhand State Cricket Association’s International Stadium in Ranchi.Two matches were played at this stadium-Kolkata Night Riders versus Royal Challengers,Bangalore and Kolkata Night Riders versus Pune Warriors on May 12 and May 15 respectively.

As per the law,NRSL was supposed to pay 10 percent of the total amount of tickets sold was to the Department in the form of entertainment tax.This was not paid.

Consequently, the Department served notice on the company.On Tuesday,NRSL officials turned up before the Department’s Assistant Commissioner Pramod Kumar Sinha and agreed to pay Rs 51,68,889 to it.”The company has to deposit the sum within twenty days”,says Sinha.
