The arrest of two Maoists in Jharkhand has led to the recovery of weapons made abroad.
These Maoists -Surya Don and Siyon Topno-allegedly belonging to the People’s Liberation Front of India(PLFI),a breakaway faction of the CPI(Maoist)-were arrested by a joint team of security forces from Jharkhand and Orissa at Ordga village under Jaldega block in Simdega district on Friday.
On the basis of their interrogations,security forces recovered interalia 11 country made rifles,two hand grenades,one rifle made in the ‘USA’ and 230 catridges made in Pakistan.”These catridges carry the seal of the Pakistan Ordinance Factory”,said Simdega SP Prabhat Kumar.
PLFI,led by one fugitive Maoist Dinesh Gope,had spread its network in Odisha’s Sundergarh and Rourkela.”At the behest of Gope they collect ransom from businessmen in the area”,said Kumar.
These two Maoists were arrested after an exchange of fire between the PLFI cadres and the security forces.Although there is no clue as to how these US and Pakistani weapons had landed in their hands,a constable of the state police posted in Simdega suspects that oflate, a section of the unemployed Muslim youths had not only picked up arms under the banner of the ‘PLFI’ and so on,but also changed names to hide their identity.
”Most of them had either kept typical Hindi names or Christianised Hindi names such as Raju,Guddu,Surya Don,Siyon and so on”,he,who does not want to be identified,said.
