Journalists today protested against the assault of their colleague in Ranchi.
They led a procession in Jharkhand capital and demanded arrest of the criminals.Many of them walked along the Main road and staged demonstration at Albert Ekka chowk.’We want the police to arrest the culprits and booked them”,said a journalist.
On Wednesday,photo journalist Manoranjan was attacked and beaten up by yet to be identified culprits.The incident took place minutes after some youths spread ink on the body and face of the state House Construction Department’s Executive Engineer Pradeep Kumar Singh inside his office near jail Chowk.
“As Manoranjan took photograph of the incident.This prompted the youths to caught him,put him up inside a room and beat him up.His camera was damaged and thrown”,said Ashok Singh,an eye witness.
The police said that the police had registered two FIRs.One was related with the assault of the Executive Engineer and the second was the assault on the journalist.”We are taking appropriate action to arrest the accused”,Ranchi City SP Dr Jaya Rai.
