In a petition filed in the RC 20/96 case, Lalu Prasad Yadav had alleged that the trial court judge who was to pass the judgement is biased against him as he is related to a minister in Nitish Kumar government.
Responding to it,the apex court had stayed the trial court’s decision to pass verdict in this case on November 15 and asked the CBI to make its stand clear on it.
Today when the CBI failed to do so,the Bench of Chief Justice P Sathasivam and Justice Ranjan Gogoi indicated that they might provide relief to the petitioner and transfer the trial court judge and adjourn the hearing.
While adjouring the case, the Bench directed the CBI to come up with its stand within a week and posted the case for hearing on August 6.
