Two candidates today filed nomination for the forthcoming Rajya Sabha by poll. in Jharkhaand on July 2.
They filed the nomination papers in the office of the Returning Officer at the Jharkhand Assembly in Ranchi.Among them was BJP candidate and party national spokesperson M.J. Akbar.
Akbar did so in presence of Jharkhand Chief Minister Raghubar Das, former CM Arjun Munda and other Ministers and senior leaders at Jharkhand Assembly premise.They all interacted with the media after Akbar filed his nomination papers.
Second candidate who filed the nomination was JMM leader Hazi Husain Ansari.Later,Ansari and JMM Acting President cum former CM Hemant Soren,who accompanied him talked to the media persons.
Incidentally,the ruling BJP has support a majority support of 43 MLAs in the 81(Elected)+1(Independent)MLa stron Jharkhand Assembly.Five MLAs belong to the BJP’s ally All Jharkhand Students Union.
Against this backdrop,the victory of Akbar was almost certain since the JMM with its strength of 18 MLAs may not be able to defeat Akbar.
