There was a need of widespread reforms in the field of food security so that the food subsidy ends in a time bound manner. For this, there a robust infrastructure has to be developed at ground zero,Chief Secretary R S Sharma said today.
Speaking at the review meeting of Civil Supplies and Consumer Department in Ranchi, Sharma said that for better management of the food supply chain, the GPS system should be adopted.
The Chief Secretary said that there were many schemes in place to provide food security to the people.Yet due to the flaws in their implementation, the targeted beneficiaries were not getting its advantage,he observed.
Sharma suggested that a survey should be conducted to find out the efficacy of the welfare programmes and also to detect the shortcomings in their execution. A proper analysis of the ground level situation would help in reaching out to the recipients,he said.
He said that food distribution system in Chhattisgarh and Andhra Pradesh were functioning in clear-cut manner with encouraging results. A detail study of the system should be carried out so that it was followed and implemented in Jharkhand as well leading to positive results at the ground level.
