Residents felt terrorised following the recovery of fake Naxal posters in Bermo sub-division that led to the closure of shops and other commercial establishments.
Reportedly panic gripped in the area after a poster asking people to observe a bandh was recovered in Bermo which resulted in the immediate closure of all shops, banks, ATMs and other business establishments in Phusro market under Bermo police station.
Later on after thorough investigation, the police clarified that they were not Maoist posters following which normalcy was restored in the region.
The police said it was a mischievous act of some people belonging to the locality and the incident brought back memories of Maoists marching on the streets in the market when recovery of such posters was common.
Panic-stricken residents were confined to their homes for a few hours today, added the police.
