With cricket legend announcing his retirement from the one-day format today,Jharkhand will miss Sachin Tendulkar in its capital on January 19 when the third ODI is played between India –England on the brand new stadium of Jharkhand State Cricket Association.
His announcement came after he was under fire by critics for under performance. Tendulakar called up BCCI President N Srinivasan and conveyed his decision.
“I have decided to retire from the One Day format of the game.I feel blessed to have fulfilled the dream of being part of a World Cup wining Indian team,” a BCCI release said quoting Tendulkar as having told Srinivasan.
Sachin further said: “The preparatory process to defend the World Cup in 2015 should begin early and in right earnest. I would like to wish the team all the very best for the future.”
Reaching out his well wishers during his good and difficult times, the maestro said,”I am eternally grateful to all my well wishers for their unconditional support and love over the years.”
Tendulkar, however, will continue to play in Test Cricket.
