Ranchi-Patratu-Ramgarh highway to get green cover

Better late than never. After the Ranchi-Patratu-Ramgarh four lane highway was inaugurated last month, the state road construction department has decided to plant 39,950 trees along both sides of the road.

A sum of Rs 9.74 crore is planned to be spent on the project. After the Chief Minister Arjun Munda approved of the project, the department has asked its Ramgarh division to execute it.

As per the plan, the saplings will be planted on both sides of 62 km long road. The project has to be executed in the current financial year(2012-13).

To make the four lane highway, thousands of trees were felled.Had the plantation along the road built on PPP mode by Jharkhand Accelerated Road Development Project taken up soon after cutting the old trees, this brand new road would have acquired a green cover by now.
