Eminent journalist and Bharatiya Janata Party spokesperson M.J. Akbar, who has been nominated by the party for Rajya Sabha from Jharkhand, said he has felt the pain of Jharkhand after working there for many years.
He said that a seat in Rajya Sabha would help him to work for the welfare of the people of Jharkhand.
He thanked BJP chief Amit Shah and Chief Minister Raghubar Das and party leader Arjun Munda for his nomination.
Akbar’s Rajya Sabha tenure will be of one year. The by-poll was necessitated after resignation of K.D. Singh, who has been elected on a TMC ticket from West Bengal.
The by-poll will be held on July 2 and the result will be declared on the same day. The last date of filing of nomination is June 22 and the last date for withdrawal of nomination is June 25.
