The Centre has sought the state government’s approval to appoint Jharkhand Chief Secretary Rajiv Gauba as Secretary,Government of India(GoI).
Already.the Centre had empanelled Gauba,a 982-batch IAS officer,as Secretary,GoI.
Now,if the State government led by Chief Minister Raghubar Das approves the Centre’s initiative,Guaba,will move to join GoI in New Delhi as its Secretary leaving the post of Chief Secretary of Jharkhand vacant.
In such an eventuality,the state government may appoint Principal Secretary(Road)Rajbala Verma as successor of Gauba.Verma is 1983-batch IAS officer.
Gauba,who had replaced Sajal Chakravorty,a 1980-batch IAS officer, was appointed as Chief Secretary of Jharkhand on January 27,2015.Prior to taking charge as CS,Gauba was looking after the Naxal and Kashmir desk in the Union Ministry of Home Affairs.
