Jharkhand contributes about 11 percent revenue to the Railways and yet its many areas do not figure in its map. This sad reality was highlighted by Rajya Sabha MP Parimal Nathwani.
Entering into the discussion on the Railway Budget 2015-16 in the Rajya Sabha on March 16,he raised demand to start some new trains to and fro Jharkhand.
“The coaches of Rajdhani train are deteriorated. Moreover, Rajdhani runs only two days. Therefore, Rajdhani train should be run on all seven days with new coaches,” he said. He demanded new trains between Ranchi/Jamshedpur and Surat, Ranchi and Mumbai, Ranchi and Ahmadabad. The railway minister should also focus on developing Hatia, suburb of Ranchi, as a model railway station”, he said.
Nathwani said that six railway projects were pending since 2002.”The need of the hour is to start some new trains to and fro Jharkhand”,he said.
Apart from demanding upgradation of railway infrastructure and more trains for his home State Gujarat and representation in the Rajya Sabha from Jharkhand, he suggested that poor financial affairs of the Railways can be dealt with by by setting up a Tariff Regulatory Commission.
