Jamshedpur,is in trouble due to heavy rains affecting its low lying areas and causing death of two persons.
In rural areas,however,farmers had greeted heavy rains as they had started the plantation of peddy.Elsewhere the casualty had caused grief due to the death of two persons.
They were identified as Sunder Samant(46),wife of late Shiv Nath Samant and Rohan Puri(10),son of Ranjan Puri.Both of them were staying illegally in a house behind the boundary wall of Emmanuel Baptist Church at Sitarampura on Monday.
“Both died after the wall of their house collapsed due to heavy rain”,said a resident of Sitarampura.
Apart from these two deaths,hundreds of houses in the low lying areas of the city,especially in Basti and Baghvera areas,had got submerged on Sunday-Monday due to the heavy rains.
In addition,the water level in two rivers-Karkai and Suvarnarekha-has risen and crossed the danger mark,raising the threat of flood,said the Met Department.However,the absence of rain on Wednesday has helped the water level had not risen further.
