When Congress General Secretary Rahul Gandhi arrived on a two day visit to Jharkhand on Tuesday,Subodh Kant Sahay,Union Tourism Minister, who represents Ranchi in the Lok Sabha, followed him from behind.
In almost all the places such as the Birsa chowk where Rahul garlanded the statue of the legendary tribal hero and Mecon hall where he addressed the Congress workers including the Tata Bhagats-a sect-who swear by the ideals of the Congress party,Sahay was present.
But Rahul did not even shake hand with him.Sahay, whose younger brother Sunil had lost security deposit as a Congress candidate in the recently held Assembly elections, was alleged to have influenced the Centre allot his brother a coal block.
Now,sidelined by Rahul,Sahay, who was understood to be cornered within the party by its state unit president Pradeep Balmuchu and its leader of the opposition Rajendra Prasad Singh, looked grim.Whether he will lose his ministership remains to be seen.
Meanwhile, though Rahul was accorded red carpet welcome by the party workers, the BJP workers showed him the black flags. This led the supporters of the two hostile parties clash with each other resulting in the injury of three persons.
Among them,Sanjay Jaiswal,a BJP worker, who suffered injury in his head, was admitted at Seva sadan hospital.”The Congressmen are goondas. They beat me up”,said Jaiswal, who was leading his party’s campaign- show black flags to Rahul.
