With Minister for Overseas Indian Affairs Vayalar Ravi asking chief ministers of states to make arrangements like free air tickets for poor workers ekking out living in the United Arab Emirates, the task is cut out for Jharkhand CM Arjun Munda.
Jharkhand is known for migrant labourers. But since there is no record showing their number and local address, who were working in the UAE,the Munda government may find it difficult to provide air tickets to them.
Ravi had said that nearly 45,000 Indians were residing illegally in the United Arab Emirates (UAE).They were expected to seek amnesty that is being offered by the government of the gulf country.
In fact, the UAE government has announced two-month amnesty for them. The announcement is with effect from December 4 and slated to last on February 3.
As per the UAE’s amnesty, illegal residents can either leave the country without penalty or regularise their visas.
Ravi has written letters to Chief Ministers including Munda to provide help such as free air tickets to the poor workers so that they find no difficulty in returning home.
