Traffic came to a stand still for more than an hour at Main Road in Ranchi as residents staged a protest against water crisis in the state capital.
The protesters, mainly Muslim youths belonging to Karbala Chowk and Harmu locality raised slogans against the BJP led government in Jharkhand.
The residents assembled near the Ratan Talkies Chowk and Anjuman Plaza this morning and blocked the roads,causing traffic jam for more than four hours.
Incidentally,the water supplied by Ranchi Municipal Corporation was not reaching scores of houses across Ranchi since past one week.”In this summer season,we are in deep trouble due to water crisis”,said a protester echoing the sentiments of many residents.”Very bad days” instead of the `acche din` promised to them by BJP have arrived,said another resident of Hindpiri.
Though www.indiancitynews.com sought to know the reaction of the RMC,none of its three officers who were contacted preferred to comment.”The shortage of water will be dealt with soon”,said a RMC clerk.
