A policeman, who was injured in an encounter between Maoists and security personnel at Vikrampur village in East Singhbhum district on Sunday last, died of his injuries late last night, said a senior police officer today.
Dukhiya Murmu, bodyguard of Additional Superintendent of Police Shailendra Burnwal, died at Tata Main Hospital in Jamshedpur late last night, the ASP said.
Murmu will be given a guard of honor in the police lines, the police said. Earlier, a Maoist identified as Joru was killed in the encounter. The police had recovered a pistol and five live cartridges from Joru’s possession.
