From abduction and captivity to freedom is the saga of Sridhar S Rao,an executive of the Andhra Pradesh based company Ramki Infra –Tech Private Ltd(RITPL).
After Rao,his company’s accountant VL Narsingh Rao and driver SK Bhagat were kidnapped from a place, barely two km from Sahebgunj, five days back, they were rescued unharmed by the police on November 4.
“We have come out of the jaws of death.Kudos to the police for doing an excellent work”,Rao reportedly told his family today.
RITPL was involved in construction of the Asian Development Bank sponsored Govindpur-Sahebgunj highway.Rao together with his accountant were moving by their vehicle driven by Bhagat to inspect the work related with construction of this highway on November 1 when a gang of seven kidnappers abducted them.Later, they took them into captivity leaving their vehicle abandoned.
During the search operation, the police led by SP A Vijay Laxmi located this vehicle and found the cell number of Rao.Since this cell phone was active, the police tracked the conversation between one of the abductors and a coordinator of the company and located the place of their captivity.
Soon, raids were launched with the result that the trio were rescued and all seven abductors nabbed. When interrogated, they confessed that they had kidnapped them to get 10 percent of the total highway project cost as ransom, said DIG Dadanji Sharma.
