Congress MLA Nirmala Devi was arrested on charge of causing violence and law and order problem at Denga village under Barkakana police station in Hazaribagh district on April 14.

Devi was arrested in Ranchi and taken to Hazaribagh by the police on Tuesday.

In fact,after the police booked her,Hazaribagh District had issused warrant of arrest against her on the charge that she had led agitation against National Thermal Power Corporation’s Coal Mining Project at Pakri Barwadih in Hazaribagh.

After the monsoon session of the Assembly session began,she attended it on Monday and Tuesday.On both these days,she raised the issue of warrant of arrest against her and claimed that the police had implicated her in a false case.

“We were leading the people for their genuine demand of compensation of their land.The police intervened and kerosene oil on the cooked food.When the people protested and threw stone,the police used force and lathicharged,apart from slapping false charges against me”,says Verma.

Though Devi,who represented Barkakana Assembly constituency,had applied for bail and the Hazaribagh District had decided to hear plea on September 4,the police arrested her on Tuesday evening,hours after she made an appeal on the floor of the Assembly to
