Plan to set up biomedical waste treatment plant near Ranchi

The Jharkhand government is planning to set up a biomedical waste treatment plant in Jhiri village near Ranchi after Jharkhand High Court’s order to streamline the biomedical waste management system in the state.

Reportedly Chief Secretary Rajiv Gauba has discussed the proposal for the plant in a meeting attended by principal health secretary K Vidyasagar, Indian Medical Association Jharkhand (IMA) president, Dr Ajay Singh, and members of the Jharkhand State Pollution Control Board.

The plant will treat the bio-medical waste that would emanate from the growing number of private hospitals in Ranchi.

Rajendra Institute of Medical Sciences may be appointed as the consultant besides other professional agencies.
