Union Food and Consumer Affairs Minister and LJP president Ram Vilas Paswan today criticized former Bihar chief minister Nitish Kumar for insulting incumbent chief minister Jitan Ram Manjhi who has a humble background.

Paswan, who was on a day long-tour of poll bound Jharkhand, said everyone is aware that Manjhi comes from from a mahadalit family and if he has been made the chief minister, Nitish should not threaten him to an extent that he has to announce his uncertainty in the office.

Paswan went on to say that if Nitish Kumar has any respect for the dalit and mahadalit leaders, he must declare to go to the polls under Manjhi’s leadership in the forthcoming Bihar Assembly elections. Defending Manjhi for his controversial statements, Paswan said that it was because of his humble background that he speaks out whatever is in his heart unlike Nitish.
