Members of the Opposition party-Jharkhand Mukti Morcha and Communist Party of India- today protested against the state government’s decision to increase Value Added Tax on petrol and dieseal.
Since the hike in VAT is bound to increase the prices of diesel and petrol in Jharkhand, the JMM and CPI activists say this will put an additional pressure on the people.’It will increase the prices of commodities”,said JMM leader and ex CM Hemant Soren.
These members protested against the state government’s decision at the Albert Ekka chowk in Ranchi.Soren said state government was not justifying its own promises made during the first month after they came to power. The prices of basic commodities such as potato, onion, milk, diesel, petrol and LPG, which directly affect all classes of society, can be increased.
Sudhir Oraon,CPI activist said, “BJP has cheated and played with the sentiments of the people and failed to deliver the promises it made. Instead of controlling the price rise, rates of essential commodities are being compelled to be increased.”
