It is the highest temperature in the last 10 years in April
Urban settlements in the State are sweltering round the clock as they have been witnessing abnormal rise in temperatures since the past couple of days.
On Sunday, Ongole in Prakasam district registered a maximum temperature of 45.5° Celsius, which is eight degrees more than the normal temperature, according to India Meteorological Department report.
This is also the highest temperature recorded in Ongole in the last 10 years in the month of April.
Nellore and Tirupati were close to it with a maximum temperature of 43.9° Celsius and 43.7° Celsius respectively. Kurnool registered a maximum temperature of 43° Celsius followed by Vijayawada, which witnessed 42° Celsius.
The night weather in these cities and towns too was hotter as the lowest temperature recorded was around 29° Celsius.
According to a report of the Andhra Pradesh State Development Planning Society (APSDPS), Nagari mandal in Chittoor district and Veligandla mandal in Prakasam district registered the highest maximum temperature of 45.9° Celsius.
Moguluru village in Kanchikacherla of Krishna, Cumbum village in Prakasam , Kaluvoya in Nellore, and Rompicherla in Guntur registered 45.7° Celsius maximum temperature.
Severe heat wave conditions prevailed in several mandals of East Godavari, Visakhapatnam, Vizianagaram, West Godavari and Krishna on Sunday.

The IMD, in its weather forecast, said that East Godavari, West Godavari, Krishna, Guntur, Prakasam and Nellore of the coastal Andhra region and Chittoor and Kadapa of Rayalaseema are very likely to witness heat wave conditions on Monday.
