Banking activities across the country will be affected as Bank Unions decided to go on a one-day strike tomorrow (Sept.2) in protest against the Union Government’s adamant and anti-labour policies.

As many as 500,000 employees and officers of Public Sector Banks, Private Sector Banks, Foreign Banks, Regional Rural Banks and Co-operative Banks are expected to take part in the strike, All India Bank Employees Association (AIBEA) General Secretary C H Venkatachalam said.

He reportedly said, “There are open attempts to amend the various labour laws in favour of the employers and to the detriment of the workers. The neo-liberal economic policies are only aggravating the problems of the workers and common masses.”
