Victory or defeat. It’s part of the same coin in India where the Election Commission has its own criteria to accord weightage to a political party.
In view of it,many political parties field their candidates. For instance,if the UP based Bahujan Samaj Party contests elections in Punjab and Bihar based Rashtriya Janata Dal fields its candidates in Utter Pradesh,West Bengal based Forward Block puts up it candidates in Jharkhand.
Now,the JMM which hither to confined itself to Bihar,West Bengal and Odisha, has decided to join the battle of ballots in Assam.Toward the same end,it is going to allocate tickets to candidates in atleast two Jharkhand tribal dominated districts-Dibrugarh and Kokrajhar-in Assam.
“The party will put up 4000 candidates for all posts including ward concillor, ward member”, said Bidyut Baran Mahto, MLA from Baharagora in East Singhbhum district of Jharkhand.
Before telling this to the media,Mahato together with many party leaders including Jharkhand Revenue and Land Reform Minister Mathura Prasad Mahto, Jharkhand Tribal Welfare Minister Champai Soren, JMM MLA Ramdas Soren, had addressed a public meeting in Dibrugarh yesterday.
“We will highlight demand for inclusion of large Jharkhand-based tribals working in tea gardens of Assam in the Schedule Tribe category”,said Mahato.
