The National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) has issued notices to the Secretary, Department of Health and Family Welfare, Government of Jharkhand and Superintendent of Police, Ranchi, taking note of a media report that stray dogs were found feasting on the body of a newborn girl, at the state run Rajendra Institute of Medical Sciences .
The Commission has sought detailed report in the matter within four weeks.
Reportedly the nurses at the Gynecology Department suggested that one baby girl had gone missing along with her parents soon after the delivery on Sunday.
The report raised questions about the security in the hospital and not having a proper mechanism to monitor patients leaving RIMS without proper discharge papers.
