Naidu and several Ministers pay their last respects
The mortal remains of senior Telugu Desam Party leader and former Minister Devineni Rajasekhar (Nehru) were consigned to the flames with full State honours on his farm land at Gunadala on Tuesday .
Nehru died of cardiac arrest in Hyderabad on Monday. Paying his last respects to the departed leader, Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu placed a wreath on the body and consoled his son Avinash. Mr. Naidu, who arrived quite early at the place and stayed through the last rites performed by Mr. Avinash.
While the wife and daughter of the departed leader wept inconsolably, a misty-eyed Avinash made funeral arrangements, intermittently talking to leaders who came in to pay their respects. Party leaders spoke of how the ‘Gunadala Tiger’ had always managed to keep his supporters together through the thick and thin of his political career, regardless of the party he was affiliated to.
Ministers Devineni Umamaheswara Rao, Kala Venkata Rao, Kollu Ravindra and Nara Lokesh, Vijayawada MP Kesineni Nani, MLA Bonda Umamaheswara Rao, MLC Budha Venkanna, Mayor Koneru Sridhar, and film actor Mohan Babu were among those who attended the funeral.
