Communist Party of India (Marxist) leader Sitaram Yechury today said that the merger of CPI and CPI (M) would certainly happen but did not give any time-frame for it.
Yechury said this after being elected unanimously as the new General Secretary of the CPI (M) at the party’s 21st national congress which concluded in Visakhapatnam today. He is the fifth person to hold the post.
He reportedly said, “Merger is still on cards. But, the first issue is to strengthen our party, based on which work for the unity of Left forces is to be undertaken, and again based on which mobilizing Left and democratic forces together will be done.
