MCC-BJP workers clash leaving one dead in Nirsa

The ongoing Assembly election in Jharkhand suffered a jolt on Thursday when a Marxist Coordination Committee (MCC)’s worker  was killed in Nirsa near Dhanbad.

Reports said the death occurred as a result of a clash between  MCC and BJP workers at Shahid Maidan in Nirsa constituency of Dhanbad where polling is slated to be held in phase IV on Thursday.

The decased was identified as 50-year old Machan Ravi Das. ”The MCC-BJP supporters had clashed over taking out poll procession from Shahid Maidan”, said Nirsa police station officer-in-charge Ram Pravesh Prasad.

Nirsa is represented in the Jharkhand Assembly by MCC’s Arup Chatterjee. ”MCC had booked Sahid Maidan. But the BJP workers allegedly did not allow its workers reach it from Pitha Kinari village.
