Lathicharge on villagers for pelting stones at police station

Villagers were lathicharged today for pelting stones at a police station in protest against the killing of a contractor. Reportedly according to the police, two unidentified motorcycle-borne assailants entered the house of contractor Dara Singh near a hostel in Maheshpur under Maheshpur police station and shot him dead yesterday.

This killing enraged the villagers and they in large numbers assembled and put up a blockade on the Pakur-Dumka Road with the body demanding arrest of the culprits, said the police.

Today again they blocked the Pakur-Dumka Road near the police station in support of their demand and soon, they started throwing bricks at the police station resulting in lathicharge by the police in which two persons were injured.
