Lacking campus of its own,NUSRL may not admit students in 2013

Faraway from Nagri is Mesra in Ranchi where National University for Study and Research in Law has been functioning from the premise rented to it by Birla Institute of Technology.

This rented premise has little space for NUSRL to hold classes for its students.Since it lacked campus of its own,it has not been able to do justice to teachers either.

The state government had allocated it land at Nagri,30 km from Mesra, for its campus. At Nagri, the construction work was going on under the 24X7 vigil of the security forces.

But the anti displacement bodies were up in arms against acquisition of land. With one of its prominent leaders Dayamani Barla in jail, dharna and procession by these bodies was a routine.Even People’s Liberation Front of India,a breakaway faction of the CPI(Maoist) had called for bandh in protest against this land acquisition on Thursday

With the construction work proceeding at a snail’s pace,it is least likely that
NUSRL will have its campus ready to accommodate and run classes for students in 2013.Aware of it,its Vice Chancellor AK Koul has requested the BIT to provide it two more class rooms for thee freshers in the new year.

In case, the BIT was unable to provide these rooms,”it will not be possible for NUSRL to admit students in the new session”,says NURSL’s Dean Alok Gupta.
