Kundan Pahan still at large as nine Maoists surrender in Khunti

While Kundan Pahan,the dreaded Maoist belonging to the CPI(Maoist),remains beyond the reach of the law enforcing agency,nine second or third rung Maoists representing the CPI(Maoist) breakaway factions today surrendered before the police in Khunti district.

Pahan,who is alleged to have masterminded a series of crime including murder of Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Pramod Kumar in 2008 and Special Branch Inspector Francis Indwar in 2009,was yet to be brought to justice.

But when nine Maoists belonging to the People’s Liberation Front of India,a breakaway faction of the CPI(Maoist) surrendered in Khunti,the police led by IG MS Bhatia presided over a function greeting them.

Each of these surrendered Maoist is entitled to a number of benefits including free education for his kids,Indira Awas and Rs 50,000 as per the Jharkhand Surrender Policy.

The ultras were identified as Pandu Pahan, Indi Pahan (Maoists), Pankaj Munda (PLFI zonal commander), Sankarshan Sahu (PLFI area commander), Raj Kishore Mahato, B. Mahato, Kishore Munda, Shiv Narain Mahato and Daniel Lakra (all PLFI).
