Kunwari Kanya Puja-1A day before Ram Navami Puja is celebrated,Kumari Kanya Puja was held in Jharkhand today.

The most attractive Kumari Kanya Puja was held at Chutia locality in Ranchi. At this place, scores of young girls were worshipped.

As per the Hindu tradition, Kumari Kanya Puja is held on all nine days of Navratri. On its first day, only single girl ought to be worshipped and one girl should be added on each day. However many people prefer to perform Kumari Kanya Puja on a single day either on Ashtami or Navami day.

As per religious texts, two to ten year’s old girls are suitable for Kumari Kanya Puja and the one year old girl was avoided. The girls from two to ten years represent various forms of goddess in otherwise male dominated society of Hindus in the Cow belt of India.

Incidentally, devotion ruled the day as thousands of Ranchi residents flocked to the akharas and temples to celebrate Ram Navami. The security arrangement was tight.

Main Road and Ram Mandir near the Overbridge were the beehive of activities since early in the morning as devotees poured in to offer puja to the god and goddess.

Sri Krishna Ji had started the puja under the banner of Bharatiya Yugavashistha Brahmananda Sangha. “It is the day of devotion. We all pray for every body’s happiness and prosperity”,said a member of Bharatiya Yugavashistha Brahmananda Sangha.

Like every year, a series of cultural programmes was organised by the Sangha this time too. Apart from cultural activities, devotees were busy taking out processions in the evening. They were lined up on all nine days of the puja while many of them relished bhog on Ashtami and Navami.
