If medal tally displayed at the 25th East Zone Junior Athletics Championship-2013 is of any indication,West Bengal,Jharkhand and Odisha bagged first,second and third rank on the eve of conclusion of the event at Hotwar Sports Complex in Ranchi.
The three -day event will conclude tomorrow with Jharkhand’s sports minister Gitashree Oraon handing over the overall championship award to the winning team.
In fact,athletes from West Bengal bagged 39 golds, 22 silvers and 26 bronzes thereby taking the medal tally to 87. Jharkhand followed next with 20 golds, 15 silvers and 15 bronze medals taking the total tally to 50.
Orissa,secured five golds, 16 silvers and 13 bronzes.
In the score sheet, Bengal was at the first place with 551 points
followed by Jharkhand and Odisha with 416 and 237 points respectively.
