Jharkhand to receive a Sports University

sports-universityChief Minister Raghubar Das today addressed the occasion of the MoU being signed between the Jharkhand Government and Central Coal Fields Limited for the establishment of the Jharkhand Sports Academy and the Jharkhand Sports University.

The MoU was signed by the CCL GM (CSR) J. Tiwari and the Secretary of Art, Culture, Sports and Youth Affairs of the State Government, Avinash Kumar.

Fifteen different sporting events will be established in the first phase of the Jharkhand Sports University under which 1400 players will receive proper coaching in their respective fields. Initially, the training and education of 350 players will be sponsored by the Jharkhand Government and another 350 will be sponsored by CCL. The remaining 700 players will be selected from all over the country.

Das also said that the Game Village has not been put to proper use after the 2011 National games and hence it is a huge problem for sports persons in the state. The State Government has requested the Union Minster of Coal, Piyush Goyal that the game village be upgraded to international standards so that the sports persons from the state can work on their talents without facing difficulties.
