Jharkhand rescuers in Uttarakhand,save 29 victims

Manish Garg,his wife and children were confined to the room number nine of the Bharat Seva Ashram’s Dharamshala at Badrinath ever since June 15 when the disaster rocked the hills of Uttarakhand killing scores of people.They were unable to move because the road links between Badrinath and the rest of the world had caved in under the impact of the disaster. “Even the food was scarce and many of us had begun to feel the pinch of starvation”,said Garg.

Garg is among 29 people who were stranded in different parts of Uttarakhand since the night of the disaster.All of them were rescued by a chopper team from Jharkhand.

The team led by senior IAS officer Sajal Chakravorty had left for Uttarakhand in a chopper to rescue the pilgrims and tourists on Friday.Jharkhand Governor Syed Ahmed has already announced Rs 5 crore financial aid for relief and rehabilitation of the victims.

When asked about the plan of the rescuers,Chakravorty said, “Chopper will remain stationed till all victims were rescued. “The bad weather has been proving to be a stumbling block in our rescue work.But we will wait for the weather to improve to re launch the operation.”
