Three days after getting the prestigious Skoch award for ‘innovation’ and ‘smart governance’in New Delhi on September 4,Jharkhand police today made public that it had created a ‘Naxal Information System’ carrying a huge data base of 16,000 Naxalites, their profiles and backgrounders of 19 Naxal outfits.
A claim toward this end was made by Inspector General of Police (CID) Anurag Gupta today.
Unlike the past when the police either did not know or tended to keep the names of Naxal leaders and their outfits as a secret, the police now have uploaded them in its information system.”This is a very welcome move.It will help their cause to expose them and bring them to justice”,said a retired IPS officer.
Meanwhile,DGP Rajeev Kumar is slated to take part in the three-day conference in New Delhi on ‘Impact of Social Media and Police. The conference begins in the national capital on September 8 to conclude on September 10
