Jharkhand gears up to celebrate World Tribal Day

With an aim to celebrate the World Tribal Day,the state government led by Chief Minister Raghubar Das has activised officials.Toward the same end,Jharkhand Chief Secretary Rajiv Gauba conducted a review meeting of the preparation of World Tribal Day proposed on August 9.

Gauba,apart from ordering officials to conduct it on large scale on every level,directed all concerned departments i.e. Welfare Department, Rural Development Department, Drinking Water & Sanitation Department, Labour, Employment & Training Department, Food Processing , Animal Husbandry & Fisheries Department & Agriculture Department to exhibit 40-50 stalls on the occasion.

He directed the Drinking Water & Sanitation Department to exhibit stalls on modern toilets including sanitation related stalls. He asked the officers to celebrate World Tribal Day on district level & a detailed work plan should be prepared subject wise. He said that these programs should be organized under Community Forest Right Act & lease should be distributed.

The state Welfare Secretary Rajiv Arun Ekka informed the Chief Secretary that a seminar will be conducted on ‘Tribal Society, Development Schemes & Community Experience ‘ on 7 & 8 August 2015 at Morabadi Stadium in which 45- 60 contestants will participate in it.

Ekka said that UNICEF will conduct Language Festival in which lectures will be delivered on 19 languages. He further said that an awareness drive will be run regarding Forest Right Act.Simultaneously, a Jatara Carnival will be organized along with Cultural Program on tribal culture by Art & Culture Department at the State Museum.

Ekka said that a Hockey Tournament is also planned to be organized in which 16 teams of Simdega & Khunti are likely to take part the final match is slated to be played at Ranchi. Moreover, a one day workshop on Forest Act will be conducted on 8 August at Aryabhatt Auditorium .

In the meeting Principal Secretary, Rural Development Department,A. N. Sinha, Principal Secretary, Social Welfare Department Mridula Sinha, Secretary, HRD , Aradhana Patnayak, Secretary, Higher Education Department,Ajay Kumar, Food & Supply Secretary Binay Kumar Choubey & Ranchi DC Manoj Kumar & many other officers were present.
