Jharkhand CM seeks State’s power,NITI Aayog decides to form working group

NITI-Aayog-meetingIn a meeting of the Neeti Aayog in New Delhi today,Jharkhand Chief Minister Raghubar Das suggested that the State government should have the power to incorporate local requirements in view of the prevailing situation in the Centrally Sponsored Schemes(CSS).

“Toward this end,the Centre can come up with a policy decision”,said Das adding that for its implementation,the responsibility of its works should be vested in the State government.He stressed the need to ensure that the power to approve different schemes’ Detail Project Reports -such as that of the National Highway-was given to the state government.

“Right now the Centre has this power and for its approval,the DPR was sent to the state government”,he said while speaking at NITI Aayog’s meeting in New Delhi today.

The meeting resolved to set a working group to prepare a draft report on how to make implementation of CSS more effective by taking into account suggestions made at the first meeting of the sub-group of Chief Ministers here today.

The report will be taken up for discussion in the next meeting of the panel on April 27.

Das also appealed to the Centre to provide to the State sufficient fund for development of its infrastructure and modernisation of its police,development policy of its backward areas,increase in the sum of Backward Regions Grant Fund and National E-Goverance Plan.”In the Extremism affected State, modernisation of the police was extremely necessary and the Centre should provide help”,he opined.
