Two days before the festival of Holi on March 6,staff of the Jharkhand Assembly today exchanged colour among themselves,marking its begining.
Subsequently,Chief Minister Raghubar Das,Assembly Speaker Dinesh Oraon and MLA Shiv Shankar Oraon played Holi with each other on Wednesday.
Even leader of the Opposition Hemant Soren exchanged color with ruling BJP leaders including Das.
As it is,Holi is a spring festival of colours.It is known as an ancient Hindu religious function turning popular among non-Hindus in many parts of South Asia.It is primarily observed in India, Nepal, and other regions of the world with significant populations of Hindus or people of Indian origin.
Oflate,this festival has spread to parts of Europe and North America as a spring celebration of love, frolic, and colours.As per the tradition,Holi celebrations start with a Holika bonfire on the night before Holi where people gather, sing and dance.Wikipedia notes:”The next morning is a free-for-all carnival of colours,where participants play, chase and colour each other with dry powder and coloured water, with some carrying water guns and coloured water-filled balloons for their water fight.”
